Destined for all this writing...
As suggested by Tricki in some of the comments below, I've got some extracts from my work up on the net. Do take a look here if you're interested in reading more.

Thanks for the extracts, readers like myself who are a little selective when buying books for whatever reasons will tend to stick to authors they know unless they know they will like a book in advance, and its easy to miss a good one among many even if you do not limit yourself to one genre.
While finding an author through advertising or word of mouth is important, you still have to convince them to give it a try.
An extract is probably the best way to do this as it doesn't ask the reader to rely on the opinions of others, and on a blog others like myself could come across it by chance, and discover your work for the first time.
After reading the first extract I knew I would enjoy the rest of the book so I think you can add me to your readership. :-)
